"Contact an train accident lawyer to schedule your initial free consultation."
Remember that the laws in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota and surrounding areas are different.  You should consult with a locomotive / railroad injury lawyer who is familiar with the laws of the State in which you were injured and has experience taking on large insurance companies in the pursuit of compensation for victims of personal injury accidents.
Question: What type of injuries are covered by FELA?

Answer:

FELA allows recovery for any type of injury that occurs while in the course and scope of employment. Some basic categories of injuries are: a) traumatic injuries like fractures, lacerations, pulled muscles and strains/sprains of any part of the body; b) repetitive & stress injuries that occur overtime and are not caused by one single event like carpal tunnel syndrome; c) work activities that cause an aggravation to a previously injured part of the body; d) occupational diseases when it can be shown that the disease was a result of negligence on the part of the railroad. An example of these types of diseases would be lung cancers, skin disorders and asbestos related diseases. An asbestos related disease is defined as any disorder that results from the inhalation of asbestos dust. Insulation, brakes, gaskets and other materials used by the railroad have been known to contain asbestos. Because of the failure to warn of the dangers of inhaling these materials, many railroad workers suffer from these types of diseases. Any breathing problems or issues with your digestive or respiratory systems should be treated by a physician as soon as possible. Early detection is necessary to provide your health care professional the timely opportunity to treat these conditions; and e) hearing losses which result from noise exposure in the work place. These hearing losses can be caused by a single loud event or can be produced by prolonged exposure to excessive noise without proper hearing protection. Examination by a trained professional is essential in diagnosing this condition and providing proper treatment.
